Ed Sheeran's 'Game Of Thrones' Debut: He Sang & Drank Blackberry Wine

Game of Thrones fans were overjoyed to have the show finally come back as season 7 of the series kicked off this weekend (Sunday, July 16). And to top it off, Ed Sheeran made his debut with a guest appearance towards the end of the episode -- and yes, there was singing involved.

In the scene, you can hear Ed's unmistakable voice right away, as Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) is riding through the forest on her way to King's Landing, she comes across Sheeran singing away with a band of Lannister soldiers who are singing along with him. They invite Arya, who ends up sitting right next to Ed, to join them for some rabbit and blackberry wine.

Ed shared a few Instagram posts about his cameo, in one photo writing, "Throwback to the time I was a Lannister" and another posting with Maisie.

In an additional Instagram post, Ed shared a video of he and producer Benny Blanco watching the episode, this being the first time Benny has ever watched the show. And he provided his review, which goes as follows: "It's pretty good." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ed had appeared on the show as a gift to Maisie Williams, who is a friend and fan of his. Earlier this year, he told Entertainment Tonight of the scene, "Nothing exciting happens in this scene, we just have a conversation and that's kind of it." He added, "People will just be like, 'Oh... oh, all right.' It's not an integral part of it, at all. I'm just like, in it."

He also revealed that the scene had been filmed during the winter in England, and described the weather as really cold. "I didn't put on my thermal socks and I was outside in the winter in England for about 10 hours. So it was cold."
