New Music Report - New Releases Week of July 17th

Happy Monday! Kickstart your week ahead by checking out all of the new music that has just been released. From new albums by The Vamps and French Montana, to new songs from Demi Lovato and Vance Joy, to new collaborations from Selena Gomez & Gucci Mane and Ty Dolla $ign & Lil Wayne, take a look at this week's New Music Report.

The Vamps - Night & Day (Night Edition)

The Vamps are here with their third studio album, and it's a two-parter. Night & Day is being released in two pieces, beginning with the Night Edition, with the Day Edition to be released sometime later this year. Night & Day (Night Edition) features some more electonric/dance songs, collaborating with DJs like Matoma ("All Night"), Mike Perry (with Sabrina Carpenter on "Hands"), and Martin Jensen ("Middle of the Night"). The band also teamed up with Argentinian actress/model/singer TINI on a song called "It's a Lie."

During a recent interview with The Vamps and iHeartRadio, the band's Bradley said of the Day vs. Night album, "I think a lot of [the album's separation] was determined by lyrical content more so than necessarily this sonics of the songs. I think the Night album has got a bit more ... I don't want to say sexy, but there's a song called, 'Same to You,' and they're a bit more moody and the Day ones are bit more uplifting. We're still in the process of choosing the Day songs. We haven't confirmed that track list yet, so I guess we'll wait and see."

The Vamps

Demi Lovato - "Sorry Not Sorry"

Demi Lovato is back with a brand-new track for her haters called "Sorry Not Sorry." Produced by Zaire Koalo, Trevor Brown and Warren "Oak" Felder, the cut is an unapologetic anthem for all the detractors out there as the former Disney darling sings about getting some sweet ol' revenge. Still, her revenge isn't laced with ill-will. It's celebratory and, boy, does she sound good belting those notes on the grand hook. "Now payback is a bad b*tch/ And baby, I'm the baddest/ You f**kin' with a savage/ Can't have this, can't have this (ahhh)/ And it'd be nice of me to take it easy on ya, but nahhh," she sings on the pre-chorus.

"Sorry Not Sorry" is Lovato's first single off her as-yet-untitled forthcoming album. In a recent Instagram post, the pop star said that she's been more inspired than ever to be writing new music. "I'm so happy that I was able to come back to writing music more energized and inspired than ever, and to be able to give my all and more, to this new chapter," she wrote. "Sorry Not Sorry is the first of many songs that I’ve been working on, and I can’t wait for you guys to hear all of them. I hope this song makes you get off your seat and dance like you never have before. This is an anthem for anyone who’s ever been hated on and has risen above it and come out from the other side like a f**king savage!!!"

Selena Gomez featuring Gucci Mane - "Fetish"

After dropping plenty of teasers via her social media, Selena Gomez serves full-on sex on her new single called "Fetish," which features Gucci Mane. While "Bad Liar" heard Gomez hit a quirky pop note, "Fetish" is more in line with her Revival lead single, "Good for You," and hears the teen sensation singing about her tantalizing love with a beat, courtesy of Jonas Jeberg & The Futuristics. "You got a fetish for my love/ I push you out and you come right back/ Don't see a point in blaming you/ If I were you, I'd do me too," she coos during the mid-tempo track's hook. Even though a traditional music video for "Fetish" didn't surface, a preview clip dropped and it's a must-see. To match the sexy tone of the track, the clip is actually just one long close-up of the pop star's mouth and aimed at making you feel some kind of way. Mission accomplished, Team Selena!

Kesha - "Woman"

After baring her soul on her comeback track, "Praying," Kesha dropped another new song called "Woman" out of nowhere and it's an absolute anthem. Clocking in at three and a half minutes, the follow-up single hears the pop star round up her ladies, declare her independence and hit back at sexism. It includes some roaring production, a horn section performed by The Dap-Kings and a catchy melody because Kesha is, of course, a wiz at pop songwriting. "I'm a motherf**king woman, baby, alright/ I don't need a man to be holding too tight/ I'm a motherf**king woman, baby, that's right/ I'm just having fun with my ladies here tonight/ I'm a motherf**ing," she chants during the hook.                                                                                                                                                                               "I have always been a feminist, but for much of my life I felt like a little girl trying to figure things out. In the past few years, I have felt like a woman more than ever. I just feel the strength and awesomeness and power of being female," she wrote in an essay via Rolling Stone. "We hold the key to humanity. We decide if we populate the Earth, and if so, with whom. We could just decide not to have any more kids and the human race would be over. That is power. I just really f**cking love being a woman and I wanted an anthem for anyone else who wants to yell about being self-sufficient and strong. (Yes, men, this song can be for you too.)”

French Montana - Jungle Rules

Back in 2013, French Montana released his debut album Excuse My French. Fast forward to 2016 and MC4 was leaked. This was supposed to be his second studio album. But, since it was leaked, Montana decided to make it a mixtape, instead. Now, his official sophomore LP, Jungle Rules, is here. The featured artists on the project are nuts, and include The Weeknd, Future, Young Thug, Quavo, Max B, T.I., Travis Scott, Pharrell Williams, Montana’s late protégé Chinx, and more. Jungle Rules also features the highest-charted single of Montana’s entire career “Unforgettable” featuring Swae Lee, which hit the No. 10 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this past week. The LP consists of 18 fire tracks. Listen to the project as soon as you can. You won’t regret the decision.

Lana Del Rey featuring A$AP Rocky - "Summer Bummer"

Ahead of the release of her new album, Lust for Life, Lana Del Rey dropped two new songs featuring A$AP Rocky: “Summer Bummer,” which also features Playboi Carti, and “Groupie Love.” Even though the latter stays in line with the pop siren’s usual dreamy pop, “Summer Bummer” is the real stand-out amongst the pair, with LDR dipping her toes back into urban-influenced territory. On this hazy track, Lana sings about a love that is doomed, but for now, things feel much safer in the comforts of her own bed. We feel you, girl.

Vance Joy - "Lay It On Me"

Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy has returned with his first single since his 2014 debut album Dream Your Life Away, called "Lay It On Me." Vance had teased via Instagram that new music was coming earlier this week, and now the full song and accompanying music video are finally here. He released his last album Dream Your Life Away, which featured his 4x Platinum single single "Riptide."

"I had this guitar riff I had been playing for ages but had never found a home for," Vance Joy said of the single in a press release. "When it was glued together with a lyric I had in my phone, 'everything starts at your skin,' the song started to make sense."

Vance Joy's "Lay It One Me" music video sees the 29-year-old star in a misty setting as he sits back and watches interpretive dancers do their thing before getting into the action himself. The clip was directed by Mimi Cave and features Angela Sarafyan from the HBO's popular series Westworld.

Echosmith - "Goodbye"

Echosmith is back! The band, now a trio, announced their new album Inside a Dream, the followup to their debut album Talking Dreams, and have kicked things off with a gorgeous brand new single called "Goodbye." The first taste of Inside a Dream is your new favorite breakup anthem as lead singer Sydney Sierota sings, "When you finally find yourself/Tell him I said, tell him I said 'Goodbye.'"

Nine Inch Nails - "Less Than"

Nine Inch Nails announced that their new EP ADD VIOLENCE would be released on July 21st and are kicking off the five-track set with their new single "LESS THAN." The track combines the band's rock sound with an electronic synth, creating an '80s sound at times throughout the song. Trent Reznor sings in the chorus, "So what are you waiting for?/You got what you asked for/Did it fix what was wrong with you?/Are you less than?"

ADD VIOLENCE is the second in a series of three related EPs -- the first, Not The Actual Events, released back in December 2016.

Becky G - "Mayores"

After the release of 2015's "Break A Sweat," Becky G continues her Spanish-language music agenda with the release of "Mayores." Not only does it feature Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, but the comeback track hears the singer-turned-actress get into reggaeton mode. It's a controversial number for the Mexican-American pop star as she sings about her liking of older men. ¡Ay, Dios mío!

Ty Dolla $ign featuring Lil Wayne & The-Dream - “Love U Better"

Ty Dolla $ign’s sophomore studio album, Beach House 3, is quickly approaching. So, of course he’s going to gift us a few tracks until it’s finally here. That’s where his latest single “Love U Better” comes in. The new song features Lil Wayne and The Dream – and yes, it’s a banger. Throughout the song, $ign croons about being able to love a woman who’s caught his eye better than any of the other men who want her precious attention. "Pull up on your girl with that heat on/ She don't know if it's a Dolla or a Dream song," he sings. On your first listen, you’ll even be able to hear that the DJ Mustard track samples Mary J. Blige’s “I Can Love You.”

Mura Masa - Mura Masa

This year, electronic music producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mura Masa (real name Alex Crossan) has released several bops featuring stars like Charli XCX ("1Night"), Desiigner ("All Around The World"), A$AP Rocky ("Love$ick"), and more. But now, his very first full-length album has arrived. Crossan's self-titled debut album includes all of the previously mentioned tracks in addition to collaborations with artists like Damon Albarn, singer/songwriter Bonzai, French singer Christine and the Queens, English musician Jamie Lidell, and more.

Rozes - "Canyons"

Most people became acquainted with Rozes by her hit collaboration with The Chainsmokers "Roses." Then, she released her own solo EP Burn Wild, which featured her single "Under The Grave." Fast-forward to today and the singer/songwriter is back with a brand new single called "Canyons." Rozes tells JustJared about the song's meaning, "This song is about learning that you can disagree with the people you love and still be compatible. A healthy relationship of any sort is being able to have your own opinions and maintaining your own identity while still living in harmony with each other."

MNEK - "Paradise"

MNEK takes advantage of the current throwback sounds of the '90s with his new track "Paradise," which hears the British hitmaker extracting from the old to produce the new, and we're loving it. As for why he decided to throw it back, well, he said “Paradise” was the product of our trendy landscape. "Around the time I wrote ‘Paradise’, so much dance music was coming out and doing well with literally any '90s R&B song as the main topline, of the whole song. It really bothered me!” he explained. "So, I decided to sample a dance song for an R&B track. I’ve always loved ‘Free’ by Ultra Nate, so it was such an honour to have the blessing of the writers of the song to sample it for 'Paradise.’”

Galantis - "True Feeling"

Producer/DJ duo Galantis recently announced their second studio album The Aviary (due out September 15), which follows their 2015 debut album Pharmacy, and to celebrate, the guys shared a brand new track with fans called "True Feeling." The pair's breezy new tune boasts and infectious summertime rhythm and sing-out-loud worthy vocals/lyrics. "It's me and you, ooh/True feeling, it's a true feeling," he sings.

The Script - "Rain"

It's been two years since The Script put out new music, but the band has finally returned with a brand new single called "Rain." The new song follows their 2014 album No Sound Without Silence and is a change in sound from their previous single. In fact, the band recently told Metro.co.uk of their sonic evolution, "It’s been two years since we had something out so there’s two years worth of progression in our music. I'm sure to a lot of people it might sound quite drastic at first but if they heard the 60 songs we’ve put out you’d hear a slower progression."

OneRepublic x Seeb - "Rich Love"

OneRepublic delivers on their promise to keep the music coming in untraditional ways with their new collaboration with Seeb. For "Rich Love," the band teams up with the Norwegian electronic trio for for an almost too happy cut about carefree loving. "Ooh, broke as a bottle of wine/ Ooh, but drink with you all damn night/ Ooh, broke as a bottle of wine/ Cause if we don't find money/ Then what we got honey lifts it up/ We got some rich love," lead singer Ryan Tedder sings on the cut.

WizKid - Sounds from the Other Side

Featured on Drake’s hit “One Dance” single that was released last year, Nigerian singer/songwriter Wizkid’s fan base grew exponentially when the song dropped. Wizkid is now continuing to keep the momentum going with the release of his brand new album Sounds From The Other Side. The project consists of 12 songs. It features some music industry heavyweights such as Drake (of course), Major Lazer, Chris Brown, Trey Songz,  Ty Dolla Sign and more. In an interview with Hunger Magazine, WizKid said about his new album: “The aim is not really to cross over. I just want to make good music for the world. It’s really not in my mind to cross over to America. I have my own fan base, which is Africa. And I just want to keep feeding that fan base and hope it grows,” TheNet.com reported.

Arcade Fire - "Electric Blue"

Arcade Fire's fifth studio album Everything Now is almost here, and the band has shared another new song from the 13-track album. The mid-tempo dance track features high falsetto as you hear lyrics like, "Summer's gone and so are you/See the sky electrocute." If disco made a comeback in 2017, this is probably what it would sound like. The song's music video shows Arcade Fire's Régine Chassagne walking through New Orleans in the night time as Mardi Gras cleanup happens.

Kid Rock - "Po-Dunk"

Kid Rock's may become a senator, but as part of his marketing strategy for his music, the rocker released two new songs this week "Greatest Show on Earth" and the more country-sounding "Po-Dunk," which he also released a music video for. In fact, he wrote as part of an Instagram post, "I have recently worked out a unique deal with BMG, Broken Bow, CAA and Live Nation to release music ON MY TERMS. Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I'm planning on putting out music during mine and IT ALL STARTS TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT. It's not a hoax, it's a strategy and marketing 101! No plans for an album or anything else that has been the usual norm in the music business OR politics."

R3hab - "Hold Me"

R3hab is on a roll. The producer/DJ has been releasing a lot of new music over the last few weeks, and his latest track comes in the form of "Hold Me." R3hab's addictive new song showcases an uncredited female vocalist as she sings heartfelt lyrics like, "We pretend we're not falling/But you can't keep your hands off of me/You caught me without warning/You hold me, you hold me." "Hold Me" follows R3hab's previously released original singles this year "Truth or Dare" and "Trouble," in addition to several remixes.

Chance The Rapper featuring Young Thug - "Big B's"

Chance The Rapper surprised his fans when he did a surprise drop of a new song with Young Thug on Soundcloud entitled “Big B’s.” This happened right after the rapper admitted on Twitter that the music streaming site was “here to stay.” Previously, Soundcloud was having funding hardships and was supposed to be shutting down within the next couple of months max. However, Chance saved the day and said that he had a "very fruitful call" with SoundCloud creator Alexander Ljung about keeping the site up and running. To assure people that Soundcloud wasn’t going anywhere, Chance released “Big B’s” on the music service and it goes hard! Listen to it ASAP.

Meek Mill - "Issues"

Meek Mill’s next album, Wins and Losses, will be released on Friday (July 21). In anticipation of the new project, the Philly MC released a new song “Issues,” as well as its accompanying music video. Throughout the song, Meek vents about the trust issues that he has with people, including women. The video shows him and his fellow Dreamchasers having the time of their lives in South Beach. Some familiar faces that you’ll spot in it include Jim Jones, PNB Rock and boxer Danny Garcia. Wins and Losses will have 17 songs, of which some features on the upcoming project include The Dream, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Quavo and more.

Tyler, The Creator - "Boredom"

"Boredom" has a new best friend and his name is Tyler, The Creator. In anticipation for Tyler’s upcoming album, Flower Boy, the Odd Future rapper dropped this new track. On the song, he raps about loneliness that he sometimes feelings, as well as the times he feels isolated from everyone around him. "I been starting to feel like I don't know anyone / So now I'm staring at my ceiling with no idea where I'm going," Tyler says on it. "I've been in the f**king room so long / My eyes are turning to drywall." “Boredom” features vocals from Corinne Bailey Rae, Anna of the North and Rex Orange County.

DJ Mustard - Don’t Box Me, Vol. 1 EP

DJ Mustard is already known in the hip hop community as being one of the biggest, must respected young producers in the musical genre. But, he doesn’t want us to stick him and his talents in one place. That’s what we’re getting from the surprise release of his new Don’t Box Me, Vol. 1 EP. Mustard’s new project shows off his EDM chops. The famed hip hop talent remixed songs like Childish Gambino’s “Redbone,” Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO Tour Life,” Khalid’s “Location” with EDM beats. The rap songs actually sound great with these new twists. Check them out! Meanwhile, we’ll definitely be waiting for Vol. 2 to drop. We see you, Mustard!

DJ Mustard

Phresher - "Cookin"

Brooklyn rapper Phresher just hit us with another lit track called “Cookin.” We all know about his skills by now, thanks to his monster smash “Wait A Minute” that had numerous NYC MCs remixing it like Remy Ma, Cardi B, and more. But, it doesn’t look like he’s close to being done with the bars. “Cookin” sort of came out of nowhere, to be honest. But, we’re glad it came. It’s all about hustling to move up in your life and better yourself. We can’t be mad at that message, at all. “You can cook at the trap, cook at the workplace, cooking at school, you can cook anywhere," Phresher raps. "It's all about grinding and working hard."
