Man Dressed As Unicorn Accused Of Robbing Maryland Convenience Store

Baltimore County police received an odd call about a burglary at a High's convenience store in Baldwin, Maryland over the weekend. They were told that a man in a unicorn costume ran into the store and demanded money from an employee behind the counter. The costumed man used a crowbar to smash the cash register open and stole money and cigarettes before fleeing the store in a getaway car with his accomplice.

As the police were responding to the burglary, they passed the suspects driving at a high rate of speed in the opposite direction. The officers turned around and chased the men before the alleged thieves crashed into mailboxes and a power pole on the side of the road. Jacob William Rogge and Joseph Philip Svezzese were taken into custody and charged with armed robbery. Rogge, who police say donned the unicorn costume to rob the store, was also charged with first- and second-degree assault and destruction of property. They were both seriously injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Svezzese was released and taken to jail, while Rogge remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Officials say that the unicorn costume was discarded before the crash and officers found it in the bushes nearby.
