Here Is How You Can Prepare For Cali's Winter Storm

This winter storm we are about experience in Southern California will be the coldest to hit the region in YEARS!

  • The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Los Angeles and Ventura counties and the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and La Crescenta areas could also see some snow. Here is how you can prepare for the winter storm that is about to hit SoCal:
    NotifyLA - sign up for NotifyLA to receive emergency alerts via text, voice or email based on geographic locations
  • Drive carefully - if you are going outside, slow down, drive carefully and adhere to any weather related traffic signs (reminder that 12" of rushing water can carry a car)
  • Put away loose items - toys, outdoor décor and tools can block storm drains and cause flooding (call 3-1-1 or use the My311 app to notify officials of debris that need to be cleared)
  • Turn off sprinklers - save money and turn off sprinklers as the rainwater can provide the hydration to your yards and gardens
  • Avoid touching down power lines
  • Prepare for a possible blackout - make sure mobile devices are charged, cars are charged/filled with gas and people have access to essentials
  • Check emergency kit - make sure emergency kits are filled with essentials like food, water, batteries, medicine, change of clothes and other neccessities
  • Make a plan - make a plan for household in case of evacuations
