Christina Applegate once ate a salad contaminated with fecal matter that made her violently sick for days. She detailed the experience with extreme honesty on the latest episode of her podcast, MeSsy with Christina Applegate & Jamie-Lynn Sigler, on iHeartRadio. The "Bad Moms" standout set the scene as a routine visit to a restaurant (where she frequently ordered take-out from for the last 15 years) that went horribly wrong.

“I was so sick, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t [do] anything.” Applegate soon discovered that the salad she ordered from the restaurant was contaminated with fecal matter that harbored a gnarly gut bacteria called sapovirus. Sapovirus, as defined by The National Library of Medicine, is a bacteria "responsible for both sporadic cases and occasional outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis."

“It is when you ingest the fecal matter of someone else from your food. Someone else’s poop went into my mouth, and I ate it.”

The 52-year-old actress, who has Multiple Sclerosis (which can make it difficult for a person to get to the bathroom on time), candidly revealed that she woke up in the middle of the night "in a pool of s–t."

"I didn’t know it happened, and having MS at 3 o’clock in the morning and trying to change your sheets, it’s not fun. But this brings me to my next point, which we can talk about: I’m wearing diapers."

Podcast co-host and "Sopranos" star Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also has MS, described the mental and emotional effects of having to wear a diaper to prevent leakage on a normal night with MS, let alone with the addition of gruesome gut bacteria.

"Christina and I have talked about this. Putting on an adult diaper, you’re not gonna feel sexy. You’re never gonna slip one on and be like, ‘I’m ready for my day.’ It’s something you gotta wear because your body is malfunctioning.”
