Many people were forced to evacuate their homes during the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, including Meryl Streep. But, Streep's evacuation story is nail-biting as told by her nephew, Abe Streep, in a new article for New York Magazine.

Abe shared that his aunt had to cut a hole in her fence big enough for a car to drive through in order to escape. He shared, "Evacuation mandates were sent across the city. My aunt Meryl Streep received an order to evacuate on January 8, but when she tried to leave, she discovered that a large tree had fallen over in her driveway, blocking her only exit. Determined to make it out, she borrowed wire cutters from a neighbor, cut a car-size hole in the fence she shared with the neighbors on the other side, and drove through their yard to escape."

Streep is one of many to evacuate with many losing their homes and personal possessions. In the article, Abe also shared that "Haley Joel Osment lost 500 records and a piano his parents had given him when he turned 18." Streep added, "He told me his father was struggling with the loss of his home, having spent a decade sanding and refinishing the wood floors and painstakingly varnishing metal surfaces."

Celebrities to lose their homes in these horrific fires include Anna Faris, Eugene Levy, James Woods, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Adam Brody, Paris Hilton, Leighton Meester, Sandra Lee, Ricki Lake and more.
