Selena Gomez may own a successful beauty brand, but does her fiancé Benny Blanco have the skills to keep up in the makeup department? Based on a hilarious new video shared by the Rare Beauty founder, that's up for debate.
On Thursday (March 6), the "Love On" singer, who got engaged to Blanco in December 2024, shared a video on Instagram of her "letting my fiancé do my makeup" using some of her Rare Beauty products, and it went about how you would expect. Things got off to a great start when the phone she had set up fell over before Blanco even had a chance to dig deep into the products.
As he finally got started, he asked if he should use his fingers to apply the products, but Gomez helpfully hinted "there are brushes" before the clip cut to Blanco using a brush to put powder on her nose, exclaiming "that's pretty good!" as she held back laughter. After Blanco made her "proud" by powdering the rest of her face, she quickly looked horrified and apprehensive as he pulled out a dark contour shade, unevenly placing it high on her cheekbones as she looked into the camera.
"Why isn't it doing anything? When you do it, it looks so good," he said.
Gomez hesitated while complimenting his placement of highlighter, saying, "Not... not bad..." before he used a heavier hand on her other cheek and even placed some on her chin. "Why would you highâ ... okay." He then picked up another highlighter that he smudged along her jaw as she laughed.
"I really think I'm on to something," he said. "Hold on, let me get my brush."
Blanco topped off the completed look with some finishing spray, but not before he made sure to douse himself with it as well.
"I think it looks pretty good! I don't know... You look so hot," he said, before the video cut to Gomez making a sad face at the camera.
Fans and friends were loving the unexpected beauty collab, flocking to the comments to react to the end result. Gomez's Emilia PĂ©rez co-star and new Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña left a comment laughing and begging for this to become a trend, while the official Instagram accounts for Hulu and Gomez's show Only Murders in the Building quipped, respectively, "A for effort đ«¶" and "He tried. đ "
Blanco also popped up in the comments to defend himself, saying, "i feel like i did pretty well."
