Can You Guess The Most Popular Thanksgiving Side Dish In Your State?

Thanksgiving may be a holiday all about reflecting on what you are grateful for in life over the last year, but it is also a major day for foodies to dig in to some truly incredible meals, from tried-and-true dishes and secret family recipes to tender turkey and juicy ham. However, for many people, the side dishes are the real main event.

Campbell's recently released its 2025 State of the Sides report, based on a survey of 5,000 Americans across every state, to determine the most popular Thanksgiving side dish in the country, and there was an overwhelming favorite.

The most popular side dish for Thanksgiving continues to be stuffing (or dressing, depending on where you live), with the flavorful, comforting dish being the top choice for 42 states. Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes/yams, macaroni and cheese and green bean casserole round out the top five.

These are the most popular Thanksgiving sides in each state:

The annual report also determined that 63% of Americans prefer the sides over the main entree during Thanksgiving, up from 54% in the previous year, while 47% said they would happy if their plates only had sides. Check out Campbell's State of the Sides report for the full breakdown.
